Metairie Ridge Presbyterian Church’s Child Development Center is designed for young children from 12 months old and walking through pre-kindergarten. A part of the church’s ministry to the community, the CDC is operated by the Christian Growth and Nurture Committee of the church’s governing body, the Session.

The CDC is open from September through May on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There is also an eight-week summer session in June and July with limited registration.

Children are placed in age-appropriate classes. Our groupings are designed to coincide with the Jefferson Parish School System’s beginning dates for school. Children participate in art projects, painting, stories, songs, outside play and free play. Field trips are planned for older children.

Mrs. Darlene M. Evans has been with the Metairie Ridge preschool since 1981 and has been its director since 1990. She has a B.S. in elementary education and taught elementary school students for five years before coming to Metairie Ridge.


About Our Classes


The nursery class size is 12 children with a teacher and an assistant. The toddler class is limited to 14, also with a teacher and assistant. The two year olds have a pupil-teacher ratio of 16 to 2. The three-year-old classes have a degreed lead teacher and an assistant, with a maximum of 18 children per class. The pre-K class has a certified lead teacher and an assistant, also with a student-teacher ratio of 18 to 2.

Schedule

Opening Day: Wednesday after Labor Day
Closing Day: Friday before Memorial Day

Registration fee: $125 (all ages) (non-refundable)

Tuition:


Toddlers: $180/month for two days a week; $240/month for three days a week.

Two, Three, and Four-Year-Old Continuing Classes: $240/month. First month's payment is due by May, and is non-refundable after June 15. Please include annual supply fee as well: $25 for Nursery & Toddlers, and 2 Yr. Old classes, $50 for 3 Yr. Old classes, $65 for Pre-K class. $240/monthly for all remaining payments starting September for October and the first of the month thereafter through April. Siblings in the 2, 3, and 4 Yr. Old classes receive a $10 discount per month.
